Lesson 170

LAST lesson

Click on this "Last Day of School" video!

https://voicethread.com/share/17867119/

This was our FIRST day of school this year. We were missing Sammy who didn't come until later. My, how you have grown!

Here is everyone! It was so nice having Mr. Switzer!

Our teachers

Our beautiful class that misses you!

This was my favourite highlight of the whole year! Each of you took such good care of our eggs.

Cracking...

Breaking out...

Alpha is born!

Prayer

Please remember to pray for everyone on our list! Pray for a wonderful and safe summer for all of our families. Praise God that we had such a terrific year and that He watched over our school. No one got COVID! He protected us.

Bible

Let's review what we learned in Acts 1 and 2. The Holy Spirit came upon the 120 believers, including the disciples, and gave them the ability to speak in other languages. Peter explained what was happening to the crowd and 3000 people believed in Jesus as their Saviour. They began spending time together, growing in faith and sharing what they had in common. The Holy Spirit is our helper. When believers listen to, and follow the Holy Spirit's guidance, God does powerful things! Sharing about God and His Word takes boldness. You may be shy and afraid but the Holy Spirit will help you and give you the words to say. Get out today's Bible page...it will be the last in your book. 😢 Read the following Scriptures listed and use the right one to be the solution to each problem. I love the last section of today's Bible sheet that asks you to write a prayer to God. May you pray this prayer so that this summer you will be bold in sharing what you know about Jesus with others. My prayer is that every one of you will come to know Jesus in your hearts. Just imagine the impact that all fifteen of you can have if you each go and tell one other person about Jesus and they come to know Him too! I would love to hear those stories so make sure you write to me in Utah!

Watch this music video. I am pretending that I am singing it to each of you!

Spelling

Please complete all your sections and send one picture of the whole page today.

Language

Canada Unit

Remember that your culminating project (that means the last thing you need to do to show your knowledge) is to complete a map of Canada in English AND French! You will have time in your Canada Unit today to work on your English map where all of the provinces, territories, and capitals need to be labelled in English. You do NOT have to label any rivers, lakes, bodies of water or oceans unless you want to. Both maps will be due on Friday, June 11. I have posted an English Canadian map which you can refer to. Each of you have done an AMAZING job of working on your own province/territory and now you get to map out the whole country.

Please refer to the Map Guidelines below before completing your map. Some of the steps have already been done for you!

Map Guidelines

  1. Be neat and accurate.

  2. Use a ruler to write your province/territory and any other words on your map.

  3. Always use a pencil.

  4. Make sure you have a title on your map. That has been done for you, except on your French map.

  5. Draw a north arrow. This should be placed near the top of the page. That has been done for you.

  6. Print labels (words) horizontally.

  7. Label important rivers, lakes and cities.

  8. Rivers and lakes are always coloured blue.

  9. Mark the capital city with a star.

  10. Make a Legend that has a star on it which identifies your capital city. That has been done for you.

Math

French

Use the map guidelines from the above Canada Unit to complete your French map. Don't forget to put a French title on your map! Please write "Carte du Canada" which means "Map of Canada." If you need to watch the French video again scroll down to Tuesday and M. Steve will help you with spelling the French provinces and territories.

The Last Daily Check-Up

This song is really about me getting all emotional over you! I am going to miss you SO much! Like the song says...it is not goodbye...but an "I love you to take with you."

Lesson 169

One lesson left!

This August...

Click on this video for Isaac's birthday song!

Prayer

Don't forget to pray for Colton's grandma, David and Jordan with cancer. Please see our main prayer page.

Bible

There are variety of things that we need to be equipped with for special occasions. Thinking of the August birthday boys-Braden, Colton and Isaac-what would you need to get ready for a birthday party? You may think of cake, birthday presents, balloons, family and friends. If you had all of that you would certainly be equipped for a great birthday party! In Acts 2 the Holy Spirit equipped believers (provided what was needed) at Pentecost.

Read the verses below and look at the "before and after" of what the Holy Spirit did for the believers. That SAME Holy Spirit can equip you too! He can give you the power to do many bold things for Him and His kingdom.

Spelling

You should be finished your spelling sections for List 34. Send them in tomorrow.

French

Watch this French video with M. Steve. He will help you write out the provinces/territories in French with their capitals. He even points to them on the map. Compare where he points to your English map and you will have it!

In our next two French classes you will have the time to complete your map using all French words to label the provinces/ territories and capitals. You do not need to label any bodies of water. On that map when it says "Title" please write "Carte du Canada" which means "Map of Canada."

Don't forget that for the French map you are only labelling 27 things-the thirteen provinces/territories, their capitals, and a title in French!

Lesson 167

THREE lessons left after today!

This is our last week of school! It is hard to believe, but you are almost finished Grade 3/4. You have a couple main tests left to finish and then I will be able to write your report cards. Work hard this week to finish strong!

Prayer

Please pray for Colton's grandma that had open-heart surgery last week and pray for Colton's family that God would be near to them during this time. Don't forget to pray for two-year old David, and Jordan who has cancer. Please see our entire list on the main page.

Bible

We are moving into Acts 2 for our last week of Bible. We are going to learn about the Holy Spirit. The setting of this week's Bible truth is Jerusalem. People had gathered to celebrate the Jewish harvest festival. They called this time of celebration The Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. This happened 50 days after Passover, a time when Jewish people remembered how God had led His people out of slavery in Egypt. During this feast, Jewish people came to present offerings at the temple in Jerusalem, so many Jewish people from all over the world were there. Jesus' followers were in Jerusalem for another reason as well. In Acts 1:4 it tells us that they were obeying Jesus' command to stay in Jerusalem until they received the promise, or the gift, from God the Father. In Acts 1:15 it tells us there were other believers with the disciples, forming a group of 120 people in total. Watch the video below and complete today's Bible page on the birth of the Christian Church.

Spelling

Please work on your spelling sections at your own pace. Don't forget that all of your sections will be due this Thursday, on Lesson 170. To get 100% on your sections you have to have all your words spelled correctly and the correct words chosen for each section.

Grade 4: https://voicethread.com/share/17848822/ Lesson AND Quiz 33

Canada Unit

Monday and Wednesday are your last writing days! I am giving you both of those days to produce your BEST work on "Why You Should Visit." Think back to all of writing you have done on your province/territory. You can even look back at what you have written in your Canada unit to get some ideas. What is so amazing about your province/territory? Use a separate sheet of paper to write rough notes or make a mind map. Use your "Why You Should Visit" sheet as your final copy. Your writing should be persuasive and try to convince the reader that they need to come to your part of Canada. It should be written on every line and be in paragraph form. Remember to indent five finger spaces for every new paragraph, which is when you start a new idea or thought. Make sure your paper is free of both spelling and grammar mistakes. This will be due on Wednesday.
